Vegan Smoothies

SUNRISE SMOOTHIE  (Vegan)

 

Vegan cuisine often gets a bad reputation, people may instantly believe it’s automatically
boring and bland. But the truth is that vegan recipes rely heavily on healthier
substitutes and a plethora of fragrant spices, nuts and seeds to create a far
better-for-you versions of our favorite classics.

Here we have used PUMPKIN SEEDS to give our smoothie a much needed crunch and
a healthy protein add-on.  You can always add your favourite protein powder to any
of the smoothies that we will be posting.  It is totally upto you to amp up your smoothie.

 

 

 

In case of smoothies, (BTW – they are my all-time favourite, especially in summers ),
I used to make these with skimmed milk or yoghurt.  Now that I am trying vegan way
of eating, this time I tried to use almond milk and coconut milk into my smoothies.
And believe me they tasted yummy.

They are so much lighter than the dairy version.

 

You might agree with me, that dairy products like milk and yoghurt somewhat MUTE
the flavours of the fruits.  On the other hand when I used almond or coconut milk in
my smoothies the other ingredients were really able to shine through.  You may not
miss the milk and yoghurt at all !

Today I have tried a super yummy mango, banana and muskmelon smoothie.
Take a look at the recipe :

 

Vegan Sunrise Smoothie

Ingredients :

½ cup ripe mango cubes

½ cup ripe banana cubes

½ fresh muskmelon cubes

1 tbsp pumpkin seeds

1 cup almond milk / coconut milk

Ice

Method :   BLEND BLEND BLEND & serve chilled  !!!

 

 

 

Keep in mind that using sweetened almond milk will make your smoothie
sweeter — if that’s not what you want, stick to unsweetened varieties.
