Panchgani & Bordi Farms

Experiences shared by our followers : By Blazin Fernandes

I am glad to share my FARM-TO-TABLE experience – Two experiences to be precise.

One is of the farm we visit annually at Bordi and the other is a Panchgani health resort we drive-off to whenever it’s a long weekend.  Both the places are a sheer joy to the eyes of those who love farms.

This year when we visited Bordi, I was taking my usual leisure walk in the farms and trying to identify the plantations out there and then suddenly my eyes were set upon this root vegetable, which I so love.  I asked the lady working on the farm to help me remove the yam (suran in hindi).  It was quite a size, you can see it in the pic.   Later that day, we made yam fries for lunch.  The other half we brought back home to make my favorite yam curry.  The pleasure of harvesting and later cooking the same veggies is something which I simply find very soulful and therapeutic.  It relaxes me.

STRAWBERRY FARM – Panchgani

The other experience is of the Panchgani strawberry farms which we visit in the winters.  It is laden with red juicy strawberries.

Here you can see we are plucking them off the shrubs and popping into our open mouths. This is again our favorite activity at this farm.

The owner knows us and is kind enough to show us around every time we visit.  Leaving you with some pics of the strawberry farms. We bring the berries home in big bags to make our favorite milkshakes, ice-creams, salads, jams & juices.  Yumm…
