Beetroot cutlet or corn cutlets make a perfect accompaniment with your evening tea. Since my concept for this month is TEA, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share this recipe.
This beetroot cutlet is a time saver. Those who need a delicious snack / appetizer but do not have the time to cut onion, saute, etc. This is the recipe you should go after.
This cutlet is so easy to make. You just have to BOIL the potatoes and throw in the spices, along with the grated beetroot, shape your patties and fry it to have a delicious appetizer.
And I don’t want to repeat the health benefits of the vegetable, since I have done it several times before. It is by far one of the healthiest options for snacks.
Ingredients :
- Beetroot – 3 large
- Potato – 2 medium
- Salt – 1/2 tsp (as per taste)
- 2 green chillies finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger finely chopped
- Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp (as per taste)
- Roasted Jeera powder – 1/4 tsp
- Amchur Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp
- ½ tsp lemon juice
- Mint leaves – 1 tbsp finely chopped
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp finely chopped
- Rice flour- 2 tbsp (For binding)
- Bread crumbs – for coating
- Oil – for frying
Method :
- Boil the potatoes, roughly mash them and keep aside.
- Grate the raw beetroots.
- Now add all the above ingredients to the potatoes and mix well.
- Now add the grated beetroots to it and mix well.
- You can adjust the rice flour to bind the mixture. If the mixture is too soft add some more.
- Now heat a pan with oil for shallow frying and set the flame to medium.
- While the oil is heating, shape the mixture into cutlets and coat with the bread crumbs on a plate.
- Shallow fry the patties until both the sides of the cutlet turns golden brown by flipping.
- Once done remove from the oil and place in a paper towel to remove excess oil.
- Serve with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
TIPS :
- Make sure the cutlet mixture is dry enough for the patty to hold a good shape. Otherwise the cutlets will break while frying and also will absorb excess oil.
- Adding a few toasted peanuts and raisins give it a nice twist with every bite.
- The cutlets could be stuffed with a little cheese they simply melt in the mouth.
