Strawberry & Cream (Mahabaleshwar style)

From not-so-significant January to a beautiful start to February.

Just back from a visit to the very famous Mahabaleshwar.  Have been visiting this place for almost a decade now, always making sure we don’t miss the strawberry season.

This year visited with a few friends.  It’s only been a couple of days that we are back, but already missing the place.

The beauty of the Krishna valley sinks into you and quietens you.  In the silence of the hills and with bone chilling temperatures you are served piping hot Maharashtrian food (all organic produce).  The eco-farm was a quaint little place with their own  vegetable and strawberry farms.  The view was breathtaking ! It was almost at the edge of the mountain cliff,  overlooking the vast valley.

We star- gazed into late nights and woke up to awesome sunrises.  I can go on ….

But even though I still have restless feet and want to go adventuring, can’t just take off.

So, while we did enjoy a lot of hot sumptuous meals, we also did sink-in our teeth into the cold strawberry & cream dessert.  Yes, inspite of the chilly weather.  Can’t miss this strawberry treat, after-all that’s one of the many attractions at the hill-station.

I was sure I would recreate it when I reach back home. And I did.  Here it is.

Ingredients :

• 1 cup of Fresh Strawberries
• 1/4 tsp of milk
• Fresh Cream
• 1 tsp honey

Method:

• Whip the fresh cream till nice and fluffy. You can use hand blender.
• Blend half cup of strawberries with honey and milk.
• In a clean glass, start by adding freshly chopped strawberries at the base
• Layer with the blended strawberry puree and whipped cream. Repeat.
• Top up with chopped strawberries and serve.
• Voila!! Strawberry & Cream is ready to devour.
