Rendezvous with Tea

Here I must confess, that I chose   #ChaiShai  as a concept for this month, assuming tea is a short topic, so the shortest month in the year will be sufficient to cover it.

But, I guess I was wrong.  It is looking increasingly difficult to fit the entire information in just a 28 days time frame.

I was in awe of the sheer vastness of the concept,  based on the history, recipes, the facts associated with tea and how it has evolved over the centuries.

In the past couple of months, I feel I have read a lot about both Indian tea and the consumption of this popular beverage in most parts of the world, but am still not done reading.  I was amazed with the repertoire, it is quite exhaustive and there is a cup to match every mood or every palate.

I think will be spending some more time on the topic and it is going to be a long read.  But I am not complaining. Infact, it is quite interesting !

So far, I haven’t had a single dull moment reading about this much loved beverage.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT :
  • Believe it or not, all tea – whether it’s white tea, black tea, green tea. Oolong tea, Pu’erh tea etc.  All comes from the same exact plant – Camellia Sinensis.
  • It is the treatment / processing of the leaves that gives the tea it’s unique taste.
  • White tea is youngest and most delicate. It is the least processed tea, very high in anti-oxidants
