Orange Ice Tea is a summer favourite at my place.
A tall glass of this zesty beverage gets finished within no time. The tangy tea with perfect amount of sweetness gives you a boost during the hot and humid days.
Orange Ice tea is best of BOTH THE WORLDS. Both tea lovers and non-lovers will love it. You can adjust the tea and orange juice flavours to your liking.
Sometimes, I add more of orange juice and less of tea. Works well for kids.
A tall glass of Orange Ice Tea is absolutely refreshing and a perfect thirst-quencher.
At my home, I keep a pitcher-full in the refrigerator, so that I can sip this tea all day long. And, if at all you have surprise visitors, this trick works great. Serve it in tall glasses with lots of ice in it and a few orange slices. The guests will be super impressed with your ninja speed lol… and the taste is absolutely delicious !
ORANGE ICE TEA
Ingredients :
- 5-8 Tea Bags (black or green or any other flavored tea bags)
- 1 liter Water
- 2 tbsp honey
- ½ cup fresh orange juice
- A few slices of orange
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- Few Ice Cubes
Method :
- In a vessel boil water and steep the tea bags in it.
- Once the tea bags are infused, remove them and put off the heat.
- Stir the sugar or honey into this tea decoction.
- Let it cool to room temperature
- Then add the orange juice, lemon juice and ice cubes and mix well
- Garnish the glass with a couple of orange slices
- Serve chilled.
Handy tips :
- If you are going to leave your tea stand in the fridge or on the counter for long time, it will start losing it’s original flavours. Add a pinch of baking soda into boiling water before adding in tea bags to retain it’s smooth taste. Baking soda takes out any bitterness in the tea.
- Make sure the black tea you use is of premium quality. Believe me, it makes a lot of difference in the taste.
- If you want a healthier version, feel free to use green tea bags instead of black tea.
- If you like strong tea taste add more tea bags for stronger flavor instead of opting for longer steeping time. Because if tea is steeped for longer than 15 minutes, it will turn bitter. If you like mild tea flavors, add less tea bags and steep for about 10 minutes.
